Approximately 1830 hours - AmeriCare Ambulance Service was dispatched by the Orange County Fire Authority to aide in the Triangle Freeway Complex Fire. In less than 30 minutes, we had a supervisor and our units on scene at the staging location, originally located at Yorba Park.
Soon after our arrival at the staging location, AmeriCare was sent into Yorba Linda to assist in the ongoing evacuations. Our supervisor and crews worked closely that first night with the Orange County Sheriffs Department and the Brea Police Department aiding in the evacuation of local residents.
Later that evening the incident command was relocated to Irvine Park, where we sent our disaster response trailer to aide in the resupply of the dedicated units assigned to the fire.
The evacuations continued well into the following afternoon. We were committed to the evacuation process and supplied additional units to cover the incident command location in order to treat firefighters as they arrive back to base camp and attend to any medical needs they might have.
As the fire continued our crews manned their post 24 hours a day treating and issuing supplies to the thousands of firefighters who were gallantly fighting this fire and providing structure protection.
We were finally demobilized on November 20,2008 at 1500 hours.
In the End, AmeriCare provided three (3) BLS crew, one (1) Operations Manager and one (1) Disaster Response Unit. These resources remained at the staging area located in Irvine Regional Park during the entire duration of the fire.
